Grandma

As many of you know, Gus' grandmother passed last weekend.  Gus is currently in the USA.  Because we needed to get the car stuff worked out, I remained here in Germany.  It's been a busy week--car purchase, insurance, rental car, registering the new car, continued unpacking, dogs, teaching . . . .

Fall break is upon us--today was the first day of no school.  Gus returns Tuesday morning, and we're hoping to still make it to Denmark (to visit KK).  The hope is to drive up most of the way (to Glueckstadt with an overnight at Oma's) as soon as Gus lands (well, after a quick meeting with the lawyer regarding the accident).  Now it looks like Hurricane Sandy might throw a wrench in all of that--Gus was scheduled to fly through Philadelphia.  Plans are evolving.

Mostly, we wanted to say thank you to all of you for the outpouring of support we have received in the recent days.  Friends and family from all over have offered condolences, offers of assistance, moral support, and even to cook a meal for me.  We can't express enough how grateful we are to have each of you in our lives.

Grandma Elliott was a remarkable woman.  She flew to Oregon for our wedding, which gave her all 50 states.  Kind of cool.  We were fortunate to go to Cleveland for her 90th birthday last summer, and we visited her again before heading to Germany.  We will miss you, Grandma.
